Rothwell Lodge

Rothwell Lodge Farm is located on the south side of the A14 near to the town of Rothwell in Northants. Fernbrook Bio has had a proposal for an anaerobic digestion plant site accepted (which will be completed in 2010), that will have the capacity to process 30,000 tonnes of organic waste per year. The farm’s cattle herd will also be a source of waste for processing, allowing the farmer to increase his stocking densities if he wishes.

When up and running, this facility will be capable of collecting and processing a range of organic waste from the surrounding areas of Rothwell, Desborough, Corby and Kettering.

The resulting bio-fertiliser will be distributed to local farms, whilst the methane will be used to power two engines with a combined capacity of 1 MW, which will produce enough electricity to power 2,000 homes.

The facility we are proposing would be the first of its kind in the Kettering Borough, and we believe it will deliver significant benefits to the local area. In particular, it will play an important part in helping both Kettering and Northamptonshire reach nationally-set targets aimed at reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.
