What does an Anaerobic Digester Consume?

We can process a wide variety of food wastes and will accept it in loose, packaged and liquid formats.

What can go in?

Fruit, Cocoa, Cereal, Dairy products, Vegetables, Confectionery, Meat, Tobacco, Fish, Edible oils, Tea, Manure, Coffee, Animal by-products,

This list isn’t exhaustive, so please get in touch if you have something specific in mind for recycling.

There are strict standards* governing the quality of materials that can be used in the production of organic fertiliser (a bi-product of the Anaerobic Digestion process), so we source all of our food waste very carefully to ensure these standards are met.

How can waste be delivered?

Compostable bags, skips, compactors, trade waste vehicles, drums, tankers and on pallets.

Loose waste is fed straight into the plant, while packaged waste is processed in a de-packaging machine where it is shredded ready for recycling. Around 15-20% of every tonne of food waste we receive is packaging. We don’t send any of this to landfill.

* British Standards Institution’s BSI PAS 100 (for compost) and BSI PAS 110 (for biofertiliser).
